Seems to me that knowing the Weapon Damage amount is useless on its own. Sure the Full Attack Damage Matrix gives us one figure for each type of monster, but monsters of varying levels take more/less damage. An Epic Gyront will take a lot less damage from a +27 than a Timid for example.

That's because an epic is equivalent to about +24 to +26 (varies a little). Timid would be like +1 or so. One should expect additional 23 or more damage when facing a timid vs epic.

I may be wrong, but I interpret the damage matrix & monsters as follows
Timid - will be level equivalent of +0 to +5
Normal +6 to +10
Strong +11 to +15
Vicious +16 to 20
Epic between +21 and +25
Say (these figures are for example) my weapon does +6 damage to a crawler. My spear is +7. It now does +13. The crawler is vicious (it was spawned by a previous player). It has a defence of +2 against a spear.
This means my spear inflicts (6+7) 13 damage
The crawler has (2+ 16-20 defence) 18-22 defence - I will only ever hit -1 (13-18 = negative, but minimum hit is 1)
But against a normal crawler (what I would spawn) I will still hit 13, it will have between (2 + 6-10) between 8 and 12 defence. I will now hit it for between 8 and 12 (depending exactly where in the range it spawned). So I will hardly touch HARD normals (13-12=1) but some I will hit for 5.

It would be nice of someone could tell me whether this is correct. No one has ever explained to me exactly how to use the matrix
